Be part of a unique movie night featuring short documentaries and films: 1. The Korean short film “Cheong (청이)” by director IM Jung-in About the film: Having fun with friends was so enjoyable, Hong pretended not to see her blind father. Children grow when they are able to see things that they couldn’t see before. 2. The documentary “Luminary” by director Nada Jahed (Arab Film Studio alumni) About the film: A poetic portrait of a blind father with a bright perspective on life, who is strongly determined to deliver his message to the world. 3. The documentary “Made of Clay” by director Fayssal Bin Sahli (Arab Film Studio alumni) About the film: Made of Clay is the story of Ahmed, a passionate young stop-motion artist. Ahmed wants to pursue his dream, but finds it difficult to do so because of his father’s views on his art. In an attempt to gain his father’s acceptance, Ahmed unravels the truth behind his dissatisfaction. What Ahmed could not have foreseen is that in uncovering his father’s past, he learns something about his own future. 4. The documentary “M1-K0” by director Fahad Shaikh (Arab Film Studio alumni) About the film: A film about journey to find a deeper meaning of the unknown, “M1-K0” follows Mikolaj Zenliski, a Polish software engineer on his bicycle training in the middle of the desert, who could be blasting off to the Red Planet after getting through to the next stage of the Mars One project.

Then suddenly, the tunnel he is driving through collapses, and he is trapped inside. The only thing he can see around him is concrete wreckage, and all he has to sustain himself is 78% of his phone’s battery, two bottles of water, and his daughter’s birthday cake. With the news of a major tunnel collapse, South Korea is thrown into panic and the government rushes to put together a rescue plan. Dae-kyung (OH Dal-su), leader of the rescue team, tries various means to access the tunnel, but work proceeds at a frustratingly slow pace. Meanwhile, Jung-soo’s wife Se-hyun (Doona BAE) sends him messages of support through the only radio station he can hear under the tunnel, and she keeps up hope that he will return alive. Ultimately, the slow rescue effort causes a setback to the construction of a nearly complete tunnel nearby, and public opinion becomes divided over whether to proceed with a rescue effort that seems doomed to fail.

After all her classmates go home on the last day before summer break, Sun is left alone cleaning the classroom. Later, she meets Jia who had just finished transferring over to the school. While Sun shows Jia around the neighborhood as she had just moved there, they feel close to each another and become friends. At last, Sun has a friend! Sun and Jia go over to each other's houses to play, share secrets, and have fun together during their break. Jia who is cheerful and outgoing likes Sun who is very kind and caring, while Sun likes Jia, her first friend ever who is even nice ɔ her younger brother. Towards the end of break, Jia dragged by her grandmother > a tutoring academy. As she makes new friends there, she notices a strange vibe between Sun and the other kids. Bora, an easy-going and cool leader of the kids, seems puzzled that Jia is close with Sun. When school is back in session, Jia tries to get into Bora's clique and starts to distance herself from Sun. Inside the world of children that is perhaps more complex and delicate than that of adults, Sun taken aback by her best friend Jia's sudden change of heart, while Jia on the other hand doesn't want to lose out on the fun at her new school. And the two girls end up hurting and getting hurt by each other.

Gather with us for a “Family” themed cozy movie night featuring: From Arab Film Studio: an Emirati documentary “Why is my Grandfather's Bed in our Living Room?” by Director Sarah Alhashimi (Arab Film Studio alumni). About the film: A short documentary tells the story of an Emirati family that lost their ancestral house to community development plans aimed at modernizing the city. As they recall the sudden loss of the family house, it is apparent that a century-old wooden bed, which is the only tangible memory that remains, is a poignant feature of their story. The attachment of both the house and the bed are intertwined together in the bittersweet memories of the family members. From Korean Cultural Center: a Korean short film “Sprout” by director Yoon Ga-eun. About the film: the family preparing for their grandfather’s ancestral offering forgot to buy bean sprouts. A child gets lost on her way to the market. She ends up in a house of an old man in a straw hat. That night on the ancestral offering table, she puts a sunflower she got from the old man. "Where Mermaids Go" (2015), KIM Tae-yong One day Eu-jin urgently goes to Jeju Island with his son, Min-ho, after she receives a phone call that her mother has been missing in the sea. Since her mother is a woman diver, her mother’s house on the Island is still filled with the signs of her sea life in every corner but Eu-jin never hears from her mother all night long. In the early morning, Eu-jin finds out that there is a big wild bear in the yard and the bear comes close to her, saying that she is her mother. As her son Min-ho calls the bear “Grandma”, Eu-jin gets dumbfounded and then the special day of three people, which is dreamlike, begins.

The film takes the form of a meditative, nonverbal journey of the fish, from the net to the plate, and the fisherman involved in the process. 2. "Method Acting" (2020), Ki-hyuk Lee Actor Lee Dong-hwi, who played the role of Park Kyung-soo, anorexia patient, in the drama "Unexpected Starving," which depicts the pain of anorexia patients. On the last day of the drama's shooting, Lee Dong-hwi and Park Kyung-soo, anorexia patient in the drama, are in conflict.
