Hundreds of years ago, in the royal palace of the Joseon kingdom, there existed a place called Sanguiwon. It was a place dedicated to the pursuit of beauty, where the court tailors crafted exquisite robes and ornaments for the royal family. It was also the setting of a great rivalry, one that existed between Jo Dol-suk - a conservative designer who rose to the top of Sanguiwon by being faithful to his principles - and Lee Gong-jin - a brilliant young designer with an innate knack for beauty. The king and the queen become the main spectators of the rivalry as it causes a great sensation in the palace, providing a tale full of twists, turns, laughter, and sorrow. A story of beautiful clothes that changed the course of fashion in the royal palace as well as the entire nation of Joseon.
