The Korean Cultural Center in the UAE is pleased to present the “2026 Gugak – Korean Traditional Music Program,” offering participants the opportunity to learn about and experience gugak, Korea’s traditional music, firsthand in the UAE.

This program is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of gugak while providing hands-on experience with traditional Korean rhythms and musical performance. Under the guidance of an instructor from the National Gugak Center, participants will learn the basic concepts and distinctive characteristics of gugak and practice traditional rhythms and instrumental performance in an accessible and engaging way.

Rather than focusing solely on lectures, the program emphasizes hands-on learning. Participants will have the opportunity to play traditional instruments and practice traditional Korean rhythms together. At the end of the program, participants will also take part in a showcase, where they can present what they have learned throughout the sessions.

The program begins with the fundamentals, making it suitable for participants with no previous experience in gugak. Through this program, participants in the UAE will have the opportunity to discover the unique rhythms, sounds, and appeal of Korean traditional music through direct participation.
