■ About A Story of an Old Couple

Synopsis

Lee Jeom-soon, who lost her husband 30 years ago, has raised her three daughters on her own and now lives alone after they have all married. One day, Park Dong-man, an elderly gentleman whom she knew from the days when she ran a restaurant, unexpectedly visits her home.

Park Dong-man, who has two sons, also lost his wife years earlier and has been living a lonely life, negledted by his children. Having long held feelings for Jeom-soon, he looks around her house and, after a series of playful arguments and negotiations, decides to move into her spare room. As the two begin living under the same roof, they gradually grow closer and start a tender romance.

A Story of an Old Couple is a Korean theatre production co-written by Wi Sung-shin and Oh Young-min, and directed by Wi Sung-shin. The play has been performed for over 16 years and was selected as one of the “Best 7 Korean Plays of the Year” by the Korea Theatre Association in 2003.

The production also draws attention for featuring actor Kim Myung-gon in the role of Park Dong-man. Kim Myung-gon served as the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Korea in 2006.
