SAC ON SCREEN Third Screening: Bongjangchwi
- Post Date27-07-2026

The Korean Cultural Center in the UAE is pleased to present the third screening of SAC ON SCREEN: Family and Youth Series with the Korean music theatre performance Bongjangchwi.
Bongjangchwi was originally a form of Korean traditional music performed together with humorous storytelling about a phoenix.
Today, only the music has been passed down, while the original story has disappeared. This performance reimagines the traditional music by creating new stories about birds and transforming it into a music theatre piece for children.
The performance presents lively and imaginative stories of birds through Korean traditional music. With changes in rhythm, beat, pitch, and sound, combined with actors’ performances, puppets, and familiar everyday props, Bongjangchwi offers an accessible and enjoyable theatre experience for both children and adults.
The screening features two stories.
The first follows a cuckoo who dreams of traveling to the Sahara Desert after hearing stories from a swallow when it was young.
The second tells the story of the shoebill, the biggest bird in the world, who wishes to fly like other birds and begins a journey to discover its true self.
Join us at the Korean Cultural Center for a family-friendly evening filled with Korean traditional music, imagination, and theatrical storytelling.
